Craft Day

I took a break from working on my family history and did some other projects.  (I really needed the break) This is something I did today.  I wanted to put up pictures that I have taken over the years as a reminder of our travels and happy times.  I put some of my favorites on a piece of construction paper, as many as I could.  There are many more, but I'm happy with the resulting montage.  Next, I will cover the whole thing in special plastic I got at the arts and crafts store to cover photographs with.  Then I'll find a place to hang it.  It seems simple, but it took a long time figuring out which pictures were best representative of happy places and at the same time dynamic enough.

The picture on the right is of one of my neighbor's creations.  Every time I'd walk past their place, these things would sparkle at me in the sun.  These wind chimes definitely looked homemade because I had never seen anything like them in the stores.  Finally, I decided to go and take a picture and find out how they were made.  I was surprised to find out they were made out of old fishing lures they had collected around the nearby lakes and streams.  They used some old antlers that deer shed naturally in the wild to hang them on.

I was so impressed - if there was a prize for the best and most creative re-purposing, I would have given it to them.  Well-done, fellow RV neighbors.

Another project I did: I added some craft objects to our cabana as it was a bit hazardous and I needed some way to alert people so they wouldn't trip over the strings that were attached to the cabana to hold it up.  I had taken apart a door wreath I had paid 99 cents for on sale from a craft store.  I found new use for these flowers and quite attractive too.
